Conflict-Free Diamonds - Our Guarantee
At White Suede Fine Jewelry, we understand that our customers care where their diamonds come from, and we share that concern with you. Every diamond we sell is certified conflict-free in compliance with the Patriot Act, the Kimberley Process, and United Nations resolutions. Our internal guidelines exceed these government requirements: we have binding contracts with our suppliers which guarantee that the diamonds they offer to us for sale comply with all applicable laws and are certified conflict-free. We only purchase polished diamonds from sources which are members of the professional diamond trade
Kimberley Process Compliance and America's Patriot Act
The Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS) was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2003 to preclude diamonds associated with conflict from entering the diamond market. All KPCS Governments must certify that rough diamonds derive from sources known to be conflict-free. To extend the KPCS to polished diamonds, the World Diamond Council established a System of Warranties to guarantee that polished diamonds derive from a conflict-free rough source. Polished diamonds sold in the U.S. must adhere to the Patriot Act and sanctions by the US Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control. Every U.S. dealer must maintain Kimberley compliance or be subject to penalties from Homeland Security, the U.S. Justice Department, and the U.S. Treasury.
All the metals we use in our casting and findings originate from a domestic refiner which is 100% recycled.
We use 14k Gold in our pieces because we feel that it gives the perfect balance of beauty and strength. 14k stands for the amount of pure gold per 24 parts (ie 24k would be pure gold). Pure gold is very malleable and tends to break and bend very easily so its not used often in Jewelry Gold can come in many colors, White Suede Fine Jewelry uses yellow most frequently but, in some designs, employs the use of a lovely Rose or White Gold depending on the desired result.
Sterling Silver(.925) is one of the most common jewelry metals on the planet. It is stronger than pure silver (marked .999) and can be oxidized to create interesting design aesthetics. We back most of our pieces in silver to preserve the natural coloring of the stone, especially in semi-translucent gems.
Yes, all of our diamonds are conflict free and in accordance with the Kimberely Process.
We know that once you fall in love with White Suede work you will never want to take it off, but it is recommended to remove ALL Jewelry when in in water for extended periods of time (showering, swimming) engaging in strenuous physical activities (especially those activities where the piece can be banged around) and while sleeping. We like to remember proper Jewelry Care and maintenance by avoiding the 4 S’s ; Sleeping, Swimming, Sweating and Showering. With Opals one must remember never use a sonic cleaner or harsh chemical. Our recommendation is to clean jewelry with a mild soap and warm water; promptly drying after, or a designated jeweler’s cloth for made for precious metals.
We value the unique natural qualities of all the material we use. Many of our stones have natural texture, inclusions or coloring that can differ from stone to stone. If a piece is described as 'One of a Kind,' customer will receive the exact item pictured.
We love creating future heirlooms, so don’t hesitate to ask! Nothing makes us happier than creating a one of a kind beauty to bring you joy for years to come
